ON THIS SHEET: A quadratic equation is written in the form: · ax² + bx + c = 0 · where a is not zero. — In Symbols · x = ( -b ± √(b² - 4ac) ) / 2a — In Words · x equals negative b, plus or minus the square root of b squared minus four a c, all divided by two a. — What the Letters Mean · a is the number multiplied by x². b is the number multiplied by x. c is the constant term on its own. · The part b² - 4ac is called the discriminant.
