ON THIS SHEET: A quadratic equation is written in the form: · ax² + bx + c = 0 · where a is not zero. — In Symbols · x = ( -b ± √(b² - 4ac) ) / 2a — In Words · x equals negative b, plus or minus the square root of b squared minus four a c, all divided by two a. — What the Letters Mean · a is the number multiplied by x². b is the number multiplied by x. c is the constant term on its own. · The part b² - 4ac is called the discriminant. If it is positive there are two real answers, if it is zero there is one, and if it is negative there are none that are real. — LETTER SIZE: 1/4-inch. HANDWRITING: manuscript print.
